Help Children Recover Faster After the Juodšiliai Fire

Current status: Successful completion.

Following the devastating fire in Juodšiliai, the Fenix Charity Fund successfully raised funds to support the most affected families. On November 26th, 2024, five children from these families each received €1,000 in direct financial assistance to help restore their daily lives, replace essential belongings, and continue their education.

During the aid distribution, local representative Renata Černiak expressed gratitude for the community’s support and emphasized the need for continued assistance as winter approaches. While this campaign has concluded, the rebuilding of the Juodšiliai apartment building is still ongoing. We encourage those who can to continue supporting these families. Let’s Support Families Who Lost Their Homes in the Juodšiliai Apartment Fire.

In just a few hours, the fire left residents with nothing. The building is no longer suitable for living or even repair.

On Sunday, October 13th, while many were fulfilling their civic duty by voting in the Lithuanian parliamentary elections, tragedy struck Juodšiliai – an apartment building caught fire and burned down.

Of the 13 apartments in the building, 9 were completely destroyed by the fire, while the remaining units suffered damage from water or structural compromise.

Just three years ago, the building was renovated thanks to the efforts of the residents and Vilnius District Municipality – the roof was replaced, and the facade was renewed through joint efforts.

The neighborhood was peaceful and closeknit, with young families settling in and investing in their homes and well-being.

Our focus is on providing targeted financial aid to three families with children, who now face not only the loss of their homes and emotional trauma, but also the challenge of ensuring their children’s emotional and physical well being – all personal belongings, including school supplies, were destroyed in the fire.

Life hasn’t stopped – children still need to attend school, interact with peers, and continue their development. Together, we can help restore a sense of normalcy and support these children’s recovery by contributing to rebuilding their daily lives.
The purpose of the fundraiser is to allocate the collected funds to five children: Estera, Uršulė, Almantas, Viltė, and Radvilė.
Fundraising Goal: We aim to raise €5,000 ,to be distributed directly to five children, to meet their daily needs.
Fenix Charity Fund Contribution: The fund will contribute an additional 30% on top of all donated amounts.
